Missing

I suddenly had the most intense longing for a Sears catalogue. You remember those? The giant tomes that used to come in the mail? I'd spend hours and hours and days and months pouring over them, cutting out pictures, wishing for things.

I want one so badly, I could just cry.

I may be avoiding missing other things. Possibly.

Temporary avoidance is completely fine, hon. Whatever helps you get by.

If the longing persists, you can always visit eBay and bid on retro Sears catalogs.

Hope your kids are doing well back in the school routine.

I loved those catalogues! I made imaginary Christmas lists (my parents didn't have much money, I made lists of "if I could have anything I wanted" things, and didn't show it to them of course).

I use to cut the ladies out and play with them as if they were paper dolls.

I also, hmmm, went through a little pyro phase, I guess, and tied said Paper Ladies to pyres made of popsicle sticks and burned them in the fireplace... LOL (after a long storytelling process... hey, I was an odd kid who read a lot). ;-)

I miss something which I never had, the chance to just give you a big hug. It's a rather pointless gesture, it solves nothing, but I always thought that it conveys more than mere words can...

Be gentle with yourself, and take all the time or whatever else that you need.

I loved my JC Penney and Sears catalogs equally, and if you feel the same, the fat Penneys catalogs are still available at your local department store. Wish I'd picked one up for you last week when I saw them, though the wonderful Christmas issue wasn't out yet.

As for the missing, well, yeah. I hope it helped.
