Things that are distressing me...

...in no particular order:
1) The fact that one of the insurance policies, which the company assured me would pay, is not going to pay.
2) The fact that #1 bothers me as much as it does. It's just effing money, for Pete's sake.
3) The idea the McCain could actually become president. Dear God. I honestly don't think I could take that.
4) My son's mental health.
5) My fat ass.
6) My hair. Seriously. I know. Shallow.
7) My inability to chill the fuck out.

I know this won't make you feel any better, but it weirded me out. I got a new IUD this summer, and the doctor's office had written to my insurance company ahead of time. "Nope, we don't cover that," the insurer replied. "Fine, I'll self-pay. Gotta use up the flexible spending account somehow, don't I?" So I scheduled the appointment. Next thing I know, the explanation of benefits shows that the insurer has paid the doctor's office, like, $900! WTF? Are they lying to dissuade people from using services that are actually covered, or are they screwing up and paying for things they don't cover, or was the initial "not covered" in error? I dunno. Similar thing happened five years ago with my first IUD.

Maybe it's bizarre insurance karma: For every 10 patients like you who get lied to and shafted, they lie to 1 patient by giving them extra coverage.

As for the rest of your list, why don't you chill out? Have a margarita or meditate.

Sending you a hug.

(And no, no, no, McCain will NOT become president.)

O: Life insurance, not health insurance. Kinda the same, but...kinda not. But you're right--worth contesting.

Now I'm mad at the insurance company along with you. And here's why--it's not about the money. It's about when something happens that is so totally wrong, so wrong, so not right in any way, they better just do the right thing and not the wrong thing. Because there is enough wrong. Right? --Cathy K.

McCain won't win. McCain won't win. McCain won't win. It's my mantra.
